Indian Summer -- The Fiddlehead Project
Hello dear ones.
I wanted to send out a little note to all in case i havent seen you ‘round, and let you know that i will be away for the summer... going to fulfill on a dream real quick and then headed down to Cakilaki to spend some time with the fam.
A little more on both these fronts...
I am exited to share with you my dance-a-day project in India:
The Fiddlehead Project (.com)
Movement has always been the palate from which my creative self synthesizes its own little blob of non-linear meaning. Memory does not reach further than a place where dance was present. It has been my place to align with the universe. There have been, extraordinary opportunities for study with teachers, institutions and companies for which i am eternally grateful.
All of that learning, along with a lifetime (or more) of living, gets filed away in my bones so that i might respond in that way, that is as wildly unique as each individual with their own winding evolution through space and time. And so i will sit- I will ready myself so that I might catch that shooting star of inspiration. One of the foundations of inspiration has always been classical Indian dance and yoga. For me, the yoga and dance flow one right into the other, like a river after the rain, without question.
I have always had a dream to enter into sacred ceremony in the home of these inspirations. To open myself, as this amalgamation of east and west, to whatever is present and as a leaf caught in the wind, allow that presence to move through me as it will.
Specifics of the project:
I will be traveling through India and filming every day in various locations amidst various backdrops. My process of emptying and receiving is a combination of journaling and meditation. Each day I will record the dance and write about it. Each day I will drink in completely all that is there and all that is not- let in wash through me, fill me, and provoke me, in this pas de deux with the pulsation of life.
