Always it's spring and everyone's in love and flowers pick themselves. ~ E.E. Cummings
What the… ? Whatever could it be, alighted there upon my ear??
Ah sweet joy that it is to have a body!…
Full transparency, i have not always felt that way. There were many years when my body was not my friend- or rather, i was not a friend to her. Years of not listening or being kind; of the many traumas and stories welling up and me trying to silence them to the extent that being in my skin was darn near the most uncomfortable thing going. The alchemy that saved me had everything to do with the following ingredients- a body practice, food, relationships, words, and nature. I don’t think i could have done it without a one of them. All were required to relearn, or quite possibly find for the first time, an ability to plop back down into a body i had exited. I know so many of us are holding a lot these days. I wanted to send a lil note with some opportunities to re-land or land for the first time, and befriend this here beautiful bod pod. Because when we feel good in this body, a new world is available to the mind. It’s that simple.
I would love to see you for one or all of the following….
Few things on the horizon:
LIVING ROOM YOGA continues…. git in here :)
Even as we unfurl into spring and out into the world, Living Room Yoga is here to stay. It has been such a delight and joy to practice with you in all your various locations, and the fact that you can take only an hour out of your day to have your body feel better in the convenience of your own living space is pretty darn great if you ask me (introvert’s delight over here). But truly, it’s been a treat to my week and i’m not about to let it go.
See here for schedule, link, and how to pay, and carve out an hour of your day to feel amazing in them there bodymind bones.
YOGA in the PARK! -
Sat, May 15, 9.30- 10.30am
East Palo Park* - there is also a west, so, achtung on that
~ BYOM and whatever other goodies you appreciate for your practice
It seems only appropriate that the first live class of the year should be at the tiny little park in North Boulder that looks down the range of flatirons with a stellar view of Bear Peak as its backdrop. My friends know that i fondly referred to it as my “office” during pandemic, and I spent many an hour laying in that grass, sometimes working, sometimes daydreaming, shedding more than one tear, and other times playing squish ‘n flick- there’s an airport nearby for tiny little planes that are inevitably zooming overhead from time to time, and are oh-so-squishable from a distance- but I digress… Anyhoo, it’s a sweet spot, and been with me through some stuff. I’d love to practice with you this coming Saturday :)
Investment, same as LRY and PayPal or Venmo work swimmingly.
CREATIVELY KIND-

~ a gentle yoga practice of self compassion that makes room for the necessary holding of grief, loss, and anxiety
This time has brought so much to the surface for so many, and it feels imperative to have spaces where we can not only be together, but where we can investigate and hold some of the more challenging internal spaces, that they might feel safe to be all of what they are, and perhaps one day sprout wings and fly... but until then, we are listening, we are learning, we are holding, one breath at a time.. these hearts are a wild and vulnerable species- as well as resilient and powerful beyond belief.
The class is held in a most unique gallery- both raw and chic- and looking out onto the softer hills of North Boulder that is housing Dona Laurita’s show “Transitional Evidence”- a beautiful meditation on loss and love. If you are feeling any degree of anxiety, loss, or grief, or are just looking for a way to embody more self-compassion, you are more than welcome.
CRACKED-
All wknd May 21-23rd, yoga class May 23rd @ 10.30am- Eldorado Springs Art Center

Another healing opportunity, as well as a celebration of life and creativity, this art exhibit was put together in honor of lives lost in the shooting here in Boulder as well as to bring some light into fractured spaces. If ever there were a remedy for strife and loss and fractured spaces, it is a coming together to hold and to house all that we are and all that we feel, especially when it is spun into creations of art in various forms.
We’re kicking off the event w/ a DJ Fri night, along w/ live painting, refreshments and a food truck, sculptures, studio visits, healing words, poetry readings and yoga (Sunday).

“I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to nourish the soul and cultivate the spirit. It served as a major support during a difficult time and allowed me to truly take the space and time needed for self-exploration and growth, which can be so difficult to do amidst the demands and overstimulation of the day-to-day. Julia is a wise and nurturing teacher. She clearly put tremendous care and consideration into the material and structure of the course and gracefully facilitated meaningful conversations and connections with the other wonderful women in the group. I came away with a greater sense of peace, purpose, and curiosity about myself and my place in the world.”

Poem for You:
I shared this poem written by Philly’s Major Jackson, in class this morning and might have spoken to my enthusiasm about mustaches :) As we wrapped up class, about half of the attendees (all women) were strutting the ‘stache! Y’all made my day!! You know who you are :)
But seriously - what a beautiful call to arms and invitation to live so fully this moment, this heart, and this breath.
Let Me Begin Again
Major Jackson - 1968
Let me begin again as a quiet thought
in the shape of a shell slowly examined
by a brown child on a beach at dawn
straining to see their future. Let me begin
this time knowing the drumming in my dreams
is me inheriting the earth, is morning
lighting up the rivers. Let me burn
my vanities: old music in the pines, sifters
of scotch, a day moon like a signature
of night. This time, let me circle
the island of my fears only once then
live like a raging waterfall and grow
a magnificent mustache. Let me not ever be
the birdcage or the serrated blade or
the empty season. Dear Glacier, Dear Sea
of Stars, Dear Leopards disintegrating
at the outer limits of our greed; soon we will
encounter you only in motivational tweets.
Reader, I should have married you sooner.
This time, let me not sleep like the prophet who
believes he’s seen infinity. Let me run
at break-neck speeds toward sceneries
of doubt. I have no more dress rehearsals
to attend. Look closer: I am licking my lips.
Happy bursting, springing season of growth dear people.
This time, this multiverse of greens and everything exploding out of its skin….. the swiftly spilling spinning planet at this angle, at this preverbal prevernal moment makes it all feel like another world entirely.
Please take wonderful care of yourselves and enjoy wherever possible.
Lots of love,
Julia
