HELLO GOOD FRIENDS ‘O MINE~

I hope that you are all rounding out the summer season with some beauty and balance. I am ever amazed by the contrast of existence. My daily cold plunge in the creek beside my house, moments on my mat, moments with friends, and frequent visits to various mountain tops fill be with a show-stopping awe. But the smoke rolls in, and my lungs struggle and then so do my spirits. I do hope we can figure out a way to walk hand in hand with this beautiful world of ours. I bought a new car recently and chose against the one that made me feel like a queen so that I could get one that clocks in at 50.3 mpg with a frequency. That sort of planetary alignment feels like its own sort of queendom, I am coming to find out. I’m curious- do you all make decisions differently these days? How are you positioning the care of Mama Earth and what does that mean for you in the way of action? I want to gaze at the sun with clarity. I can’t help but wonder if there is a clarity we are missing collectively - a hazy interior when it is so apparently hazy out there… ? And what would it mean to find that? Together? What would it mean to be clear- all of us? It’s a big time for big questions, ain’t no question bout that.

.. what every gal needs for a proper road trip- a tent and a bowler :)

Gypsy Jul is at it again. I’ll be teaching from the road next week, and some mighty gorgeous spots they will be. I’ve had a draw deep in my belly, and a soul itch that’s gotta get scratched.
Also, please take note-
*** no yoga for the week of August 23-29… I will be camping and off grid. Let me know if you’d like a recording and otherwise I will see you in real time again on Aug 30~

I hope you’ll come practice with me on the road zoom-style (pun o-so-intentional).

Tidbits of heart:

I am in love with watching Chef’s Table these days. It is such an incredible way to celebrate diversity… honing in on culture, the land, and people from places all over the world and through the medium of food— good god, what a powerful expression of nourishment, love, creativity, innovation, pleasure, beauty, sustainability, excellence, community, sharing…. would that we could.. bring a little of that to the world. From our own kitchen tables to a world that creatively cares.
How are y’all creatively caring? or cared for?
It all reminds me of a sweet poem I read once:

Perhaps the World Ends Here

By Joy Harjo

The world begins at a kitchen table. No matter what, we must eat to live.
The gifts of earth are brought and prepared, set on the table. So it has been since creation, and it will go on.
We chase chickens or dogs away from it. Babies teethe at the corners. They scrape their knees under it.
It is here that children are given instructions on what it means to be human. We make men at it, we make women.
At this table we gossip, recall enemies and the ghosts of lovers.
Our dreams drink coffee with us as they put their arms around our children. They laugh with us at our poor falling-down selves and as we put ourselves back together once again at the table.
This table has been a house in the rain, an umbrella in the sun.
Wars have begun and ended at this table. It is a place to hide in the shadow of terror. A place to celebrate the terrible victory.
We have given birth on this table, and have prepared our parents for burial here.
At this table we sing with joy, with sorrow. We pray of suffering and remorse. We give thanks.
Perhaps the world will end at the kitchen table, while we are laughing and crying, eating of the last sweet bite.

Please take good care, beautiful ones. Of yourselves, of each other, and of the planet.

These be the times.

Love on……
