In a world whose line between surreal and real can seem blurry at best, the practice of embodiment feels like a bit of a relief if not an anchor of grave import (playfully punned, see below)**.

What I am watching:
On the theme of the surreal.. it takes a lot to pry me away from my West Wing these pandemicland days, but I was pleasantly distracted enough to engage another avenue of visual stimulus- a documentary of surrealist artist and innovator Leonora Carrington. I was shocked and amazed at how much this woman and her work spoke to me. Yet another example of a person whose life was anything but easy, she created at a time when women didn’t have the platform to do so, and did what she had to do to survive as well as to stay true to her muse and creative impulses.

And another kind of yoga:
The elegant surreal, archetypal, fairytale-like, mythosworld that has been dancing beside me these last couple weeks actually started with a writing prompt I received in a group that I attend. What I wrote so clearly looped around to bite me in the buns- lovingly, but surprisingly. I continue to be intrigued by the brainless spaces that guide my pen across paper and what they have to tell me. Sharing what I wrote with friends spurred some sweet dialogue about what was provoked in them and so I put lips to mic and made y’all a little audio reel.
For your bedtime listening- or whenever your heart/psyche/mind is apt to sprawl, ramble, and skip…

**Meet Ella!
Stories and symbols that speak to the unconscious bring about an unearthing and a wisdom with a timing all their own, as does the dance of yoga. In and amongst all of this (in addition to a world chock-full of unknowns), there is nothing more necessary than anchoring and there is no better anchor than literally sensing your own bones. Y’all know I love some A ‘n P and I am very exited to have Ella around to better point to those parts that are middlemost in you.
