Sum sum summertime

Happy sum-sum-summertime, one and all yall!
I hope you are all enjoying the expansive, sprawling nature of this season. Here down in the caklickitylak, a deluge of rain left things victoriously verdant and cool, but now we have turned a corner and the summer that I had prepped for, has unmistakably arrived. O sweet southern inferno. I figure there is no way around this bloody mess, this heat beyond heats, except straight dab through the bulls-eye middle. And so, I have put together a series of my absolute favorites so we can just dive right in and enjoy. Chapel Hillbillyans, let's get our sweat on!
When it comes to health, hardly anything gets me more jazzed than juicing and smoothies. With juicing- the vibrant, vital colors of veggies from the farmer's market- fibrous structures removed and all those eager phytonutrients permeating your thirsty cells.. and smoothies... I've always loved all things smashed up, creamified, and gooey. Perhaps it's some psychological throwback to times of baby-dom or primordial soup- we'll analyze another time.. but, chock full of all sorts of super food goodies, these puppies will power you through the day. Possibly even the next. Coupled with yoga- you've got you one lil recipe for success. As for film, farm, and poetry- well shoot- let's just flop some icing on this cake while we're at it. Might as well.
You'll find all the particulars below, as well as a final little note below that.

Lastly, I have an apology to make. I've been a little out of the loop of late, for a multitude of reasons, one of which was a health matter. I have been writing about it and will share that with you in the next newsletter, but until then, I hope you can accept my apology. There have been so many kind letters, words, and thoughts, and for that I am so grateful. Please bear with me as I weed through, and I hope that it never deters you from keeping in touch. Between an immaculately corresponding grandma and those perfectly punctuating words of Garrison Keillor that I've received through the radio for most of my lifetime, I've a bone-deep affection and reverence for the practice. No one says it better than he, "Be well, do good work, and keep in touch"...
