Hamstring Clinic: An all-levels workshop that will build lower-body strength and flexibility
Are your hamstrings like steel cables? Or are you more the “Gumby type” that can touch their nose to their toes first thing upon waking? If either of these sound like you, this workshop has got you covered.
Whether in a yoga class or in everyday life, balance is the key. For proper, functional movement to take place, each of us should have an even balance between strength and flexibility. In the case of this workshop, we’ll be looking specifically at the balance between the fronts of our legs (quads and hip flexors) and back of our legs (hamstring and glutes).
For students that are hyper-mobile, you will learn exercises that strengthen and fortify the legs to help keep you safe from common yoga-related hamstring injuries. And for those that have trouble getting their hands past their knees in a forward fold, you’ll get the WD-40 treatment!: A specific set of concentrated exercises that will help to quickly open up the backs of the legs and lower back and gain a dramatic increase in range of motion.
So many advanced asana in Yoga that we aspire to require significant hamstring and low back mobility as well as strength. Without the proper physical balance, these postures will either leave you prone to injury or simply frustrated with how inaccessible they are. This workshop is truly for everyone and will help make more complex asana both safe and attainable.
