This week we wrapped up the 3 week series The Poetics of Presence and Loving Stillness. I watched these women roll through concepts, notions, ideas, in the mind and and then plant them deeply in the body. And like all ideas born of something beautiful, these seeds will undoubtedly sprout and take shape in the material plane in various ways through far-reaching shoots and humble roots. What we could not find on our own, we witnessed others feel into and thereby struck the chord inside ourselves that longed to be heard felt seen. We can not do this alone folks. Every group reaffirms a sense that small batch witnessing and practicing is the most profound form of shift i’ve ever known. I am in awe of you. I am in awe of us.

There was much interest in this series, so just a note to say that we will be doing it again and on a different evening so that you can attend.

M y T e a c h e r s ~
I don’t know a single person who hasn’t been going through a lot these days, and I continue to believe that this practice of deepest innermost integration is the most radical form of activism we can engage. One of my teachers Adyashanti once said when asked about terrorism “do you not commit acts of terrorism on yourself ?” To find the places where we are critical and downright violent to our own selves can be humbling. This line of inquiry is never at the exclusion of outer action but to LIVE LOVE, a concurrent investigation of self so that we aren’t othering and differentiating inside of our own selves can prevent us from needing to live that on the outside. PTSD and inherited schisms from days of yon are in our DNA. It is radical my friends, to chose to do something different. To invite back into the fold, alllll of our various and sundry parts and bitten off bits.

My teacher Genny spoke literally this morning of the balance- that both the angels and the demons churn the ocean.

This Puranic myth tells of the churning of the primeval ocean at the beginning of time to obtain amrta, the nectar of immortality and through the chaos caused, brought about the secondary creation and ordering of the world.

It had me recollect the butter churn that lived in my childhood home, empty and free of effort, but a relic of what came before and brought great sustenance. It had me also think about a visit to our local Fiske Planetarium and an exposé on the formation of the universe with all sorts of all the churning and spin off that created that masterpiece that it is.

May we not lose sight of the ordering inside of the mess. It is there. When we look closely. Yoga and meditation are direct tools to help us organize around life-giving principles and remember the beauty that is our truest nature. And the churn gives rise to something beautiful if we let it. I mean, after all, what’s more inspiring than butter???
